I love to watch Baseball! I know there are some who think the game is too slow, or they stopped watching because of the steroid era. Not me, I love to watch the game and here’s why!
The St Louis Cardinals, that’s my team – I grew up listening to Jack Buck and Harry Carry call the games on my little radio when just a kid. One of my great memories is listening to Bob Gibson’s only no hitter against the Pittsburg while playing miniature golf on a homemade course in my cousin’s back yard. And all those Saturday afternoon games on a lazy Saturday afternoon sitting in the Lazy Boy and napping to the game, there is nothing better than taking a nap while watching Baseball.
One of the great things about the game is when the announcers tell these great stories about the game. If the announce team is good it just ads to the story and the flow of the game.
Some people tell me they don’t watch the games on TV but would rather go to a live game. Yeah being there live is awesome. There is nothing like walking up the stairs stepping on the tarmac and looking over the well-groomed field and seeing players warming up. I have the same feeling at the old Candlestick Park, Bush Stadium, Diamondback Field or the fields at Ogden or Salt Lake City.
And what is a ball game without snacks- get me a dog a burger or both some crackerjacks and an ice cold drink and Dave is a happy man.
Here at KOOL I am the Card fan, Dave Fannin is an A’s fan, Brad Stone a Giants fan. At the other stations in the building we have Yankee fans, Angles fans and even fans of the Cubs yes the Cubs!
So, whoever you root for it will be a summer full of singing “Take me out to the Ball game for me! And if you don’t have a team to root for you can always join me and rooting for my Cards.
