I WANTED TO BE LATE

I have a confession to make.  I woke this morning and I was thinking “I wonder what would happen if I was late?” But the thought of being late is not one I enjoy.  I HATE BEING LATE. But I have been late before.  Usual stuff, forgot to set my alarm.  Turned off the...

We celebrate workers this weekend.  The people who make our nation great.  Labor Day has morphed into the last 3 day weekend of the summer and unofficial beginning of fall.  But as we celebrate our jobs (and most importantly our paychecks) One of my favorite things I...

STING’S BI-ANNUAL RAINFOREST BENEFIT CONCERT SET FOR DECEMBER 5th AT CARNEGIE HALL

Sting has announced “The Revlon 2018 Benefit Concert for the Rainforest Fund” will be held on December 5th at New York’s Carnegie Hall. Over the years, his and wife Trudie Styler‘s bi-annual event has featured such high profile artists as Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Brian Wilson, Billy Joel, Don Henley, Bette Midler, James Taylor, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, Bryan Adams, Feist, Lady Gaga, Tom Jones, Debbie Harry, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Shirley Bassey, George Michael, and many more.

Sting.com posted a preliminary announcement for the event stating: “The Revlon 2018 Benefit Concert for the Rainforest Fund will take place at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, December 5th with Sting, Trudie and Friends. The guest performers are yet to be announced, as is the ticket on sale date, but while this information is awaited you may like to pencil this date into your diary. We’ll bring you more information as we have it.”

Over the years, the diferently themed shows have tackled Elvis Presley songs, Frank Sinatra favorites, show tunes, ’80s classics, winter-themed songs, and even a show peppered with the performers’ children, among others. Proceeds from the Rainforest Fund go to help preserve the rainforests as well as to help the indigenous people who live there.

Sting has always felt that it was his duty as a celebrity to lend a voice to people and causes that might otherwise be denied: “I’ve always demanded citizens’ rights, but that means also that you have to have citizens’ responsibilities. And as a citizen of the world, if you have a platform to say something useful, than you, you should use that. And so, I’ve tried to do that. I’ve succeeded in some things that I tried to do — failed in others; but I think it was always a worthwhile thing to — as a citizen — to do.”
