I am writing this on Friday October 3rd at 8:20am as Earth Wind and Fire plays on KOOL 103.9 – I thought it might be interesting to tell you a little about my work here at KOOL 103.9.

Every Monday through Friday I wake up at 4:30am and get ready to come do a job I love! Even if I have to wake up at 4:30 am it still is a great way to start my day. I get to the studio at 5am ( I am lucky to live close by ) and I start running! Not really, have you seen me— I haven’t ran in years. Actually I start getting ready to help you start your day by visiting several web sites to find out some fun things for us to do every morning. Then in between songs I am working on adding music and sound to some of the things for on air. There have been several times I have added the final touches on an item just moments before it airs. Then it’s on to the next thing and then the next… so you can see I usually don’t have a lot of time to sit back and sing along with the GREATEST HIT’S OF ALL TIME. Let me tell you if you heard me sing you would probably say “DAVE, I WANT TO BUY A RECORD OF YOU SINGING” I wish, I love to sing along but my singing voice is on key (almost).

At 10am David Fanning takes over and I get a short break for lunch with my wife each day. Then it’s back to the studio’s to get ready for the next day. I have had people say to me “Boy, you sure have an easy job, playing music 5 hours a day then home” HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA not so 45 breath. There are a lot of behind the scenes things that need to get done everyday. Everyone of us here at the Cache Valley media group averages about 10 hours a day and that does not include when we do remote broadcast. I tell people that radio is not a 9 to 5 job but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is a great way to make a living and I love the opportunity I have to help you start your day. I get to talk to several of you on the phone and look forward to the times we can share a laugh or two.

Here ARE some of the fun things we did this week, with strange news items, The Money Man coming back to the Jazz, the richest people in the USA, Stamping out crime, and Dave’s matter of perspective unemployment figures.

Thanks again for listening, if you didn’t I might have to get a real job!!!!!
