Heart's Ann Wilson has unveiled the final tracklisting to her upcoming solo album, Immortal, due out on September 14th. The album, which was tentatively titled "Project Dead Guys," will feature her versions of classic songs by such icons as David Bowie, Tom Petty, Glenn Frey, George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Leslie Gore, and Chris Cornell, among many others. Wilson will be out on the road this summer opening for Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers on the "Stars Align Tour."

Ann Wilson recalled to Rolling Stone how she commiserated with late-Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington upon finding out about Chris Cornell's suicide. On May 18th, 2017, they were both booked as musical guests on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wilson, who didn't know Bennington that well, explained, "Someone came into my dressing room and said 'Chester would like to talk to you' -- he was really upset. This was just a couple of weeks before (Chester) decided to take himself. So I went in. He was really a mess. So anxious and sad and had to go onstage in a minute. I think that Chris’s departure hit (him) hard because he recognized the impulse. He had been hit by this news. There was a lot of fear there. I said to him, let’s just breathe here and look in each other’s eyes and go 'we’re still here right now, let’s just do this.' A couple of weeks later, he was gone."

Ann Wilson told us that she's confident that Heart fans are open to see both her and sister Nancy forge new creative paths: "I think that artists are just people, and once you go over the same old ground enough times, you just wanna stray off on a tributary a little bit. Hopefully it's something that really does represent you, so that people will recognize you enough to give you a chance (laughs). I think it's really important for artists to lead the way and to, at least, give people a chance to hear something new. We're not just going over the same ground endlessly (laughs). It's gotta be new."
