Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told Maxim magazine in a new interview that the latest LP from Arctic Monkeys was his favorite of 2018. Ulrich explained, "When I'm working out or driving from point A to point B, I listen more to the Arctic Monkeys than anything else. Their new album that came out in May is just an incredible record. It just makes you want to go back and revisit their whole catalog because each record is so different . . . I would say when I think of 2018, the main musical mainstay is definitely the Arctic Monkeys for me."

Arctic Monkeys released Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, their sixth studio LP, on May 11th. It followed up 2013's AM, their biggest U.S. release to date. Ulrich has sung the British act's praises before and even booked them to play Metallica's Orion Music + More festival in New Jersey back in 2012.

Ulrich said at the time, "For me, having the Arctic Monkeys on there is big. I think they're a heavy metal band disguised as an indie band."

Metallica kicked off the 2018/2019 U.S. leg of the "WorldWired" arena tour back in September in Madison, Wisconsin. The trek will resume on January 18th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
