On Friday night (June 21st) the Rolling Stones kicked off their 2019 "No Filter" North American tour dates at Chicago's Soldier Field marking the band's first gig since Mick Jagger's successful heart valve procedure in April. By all accounts, Jagger's performance during the 20-song concert showed absolutely no signs of any health issues, delivering yet another age-defying showcase.

Opening night was a no frills affair, with no special guests, and no real surprises -- save for the inclusion of the 1989 Steels Wheels opener "Sad Sad Sad," which hasn't graced a Stones setlist in nearly-17 years -- and the long-white haired Keith Richards now sporting a head full of newly rinsed light-brown locks.

Prior to the show, Ron Wood spoke to The Mirror and shed light on how the Stones found out that Mick Jagger needed the routine heart procedure: "We knew it was something serious. I think he needed a bit of support, which we gave him. We thank our lucky stars. This was certainly a swerve, a left-hand ball, for us. We weren’t ready for this."

He went on to say, ""We just tried to stay positive and wait until the surgery had been done. When we got a big thumbs-up from that, and from Mick, we breathed a sigh of relief and were able to carry on with our lives again."

Over 44 years since first hitting the road with the Rolling Stones, Ron Wood says that he and Keith Richards have a sixth sense about how to intertwine their guitar work onstage: "That was something that Keith and I have always luckily had from the start. We never planned, as such, what we are gonna do individually. We have a knack of if one goes this way, the other one will slide in this way. On a certain number, we don't even look at each other. If I wanna take the solo, I'll take it, right? And if he wants to take it, he'll take it."
