A day after his 73rd birthday (November 12th), Neil Young and wife Daryl Hannah have lost their Malibu home to fire. On November 11th, Young slammed Donald Trump for his remarks as to the cause of the unprecedented blazes that are ravaging Southern California, Young posted a 300-word essay on his official website (NeilYoungArchives.com), stating in part: "Imagine a leader who defies science, saying these solutions shouldn’t be part of his decision-making on our behalf. Imagine a leader who cares more for his own, convenient opinion than he does for the people he leads."

Back in 2016, Variety reported that Hannah had sold the property to a blind trust controlled by Young. According to the report, Hannah "purchased the 17.6 acre spread in two separate but contiguous transactions in June 2001 for a total of $1.32 million. The larger of the parcels was once owned by trumpet-blowing musician and record executive Herb Alpert."
