TOTO ROLLS OUT FALL 40th ANNIVERSARY EAST COAST LEG

Toto has just added a 20-date East Coast run to its upcoming 40th anniversary tour. The band, which these days primarily plays on the overseas circuit, is led by classic members Steve Lukather on guitar, and keyboardists David Paich and Steve Porcaro. The band kicks things off North of the border on July 30th in Vancouver at the Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts and finishes things off on November 17th at Lynn, Massachusetts at Lynn Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium. Newly added dates included stops in Tennessee; Alabama; Florida; South Carolina; North Carolina; Georgia; Virginia; Washington, DC; Connecticut; New Jersey; and New York.

As individuals, the band members of Toto can be heard on an astonishing 5,000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Prior to the release of the band’s 1978 self-titled debut — which featured the Top Five classic, “Hold The Line” — most of Toto played a key role in Boz Scaggs‘ legendary 1976 album, Silk Degrees.

  • Keyboardist David Paich told us that unlike some bands on the road, there’s little room during a Toto show for just winging it and jamming with his bandmates: “You have to stay focused and there’s intricate, complicated arrangements and stuff. I wanna say that the best time is just the musical communion that goes on between the artists and fans. As Sting said one time, that the album was just a blueprint for taking it live in concert, because, you get all the, kinda, the kinks worked out.” :
