With his ex-wife Heather Locklear in the midst of a 72-hour psychiatric hold, Richie Sambora made his way back to the West Coast to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their daughter Ava Sambora, according to People. An inside source reported, "(Sambora) arrived from the East Coast on Thursday, November 22nd, at 2 p.m. and made his way directly to his 21-year-old daughter. The pair enjoyed a quiet, private holiday with a personal cook making a meal for just the two of them. The former Bon Jovi guitarist initially planned to spend Thanksgiving with his mother but he dropped everything when Locklear suffered another setback." Sambora and Locklear were married from 1994 to 2007.

In a statement, Sambora said: "I will not waver on always being there for Heather getting her the best help possible. I am once again very proud of my daughter for her composure and strength during this very difficult time."

According to an unnamed source, "Ava is staying strong, and Richie is so proud of her strength and composure. Everyone feels helpless, and she gets a lot of strength from him. He is a rock for Ava. . . . Richie will be spending more time with Ava. They spent the weekend together, and she is still in school, and she is an honor-roll student, and she has an acting career she is pursuing. She is a smart girl and a hard worker and is trying to support her mom."

Sambora, who had evacuated his Calabasas, California home on November 8th while the wildfires were taking hold of the state, had headed back East for a family wedding in Atlanta and to perform at a humanitarian concert in New Jersey "where he also received an award for his support of the anti-heroin movement in Ocean County."
