Robbie Robertson is producing an all-star revue that will recreate "The Last Waltz" -- the Band's legendary Thanksgiving 1976 final performance at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom. Rolling Stone reported that Robertson has joined forces with Blackbird Presents to produce the string of a dozen concerts dubbed, "The Last Waltz Tour 2019: A Celebration Of The Band's Historic Farewell Concert."

Among the artists heading up the gigs are Warren Haynes, Don Was, Jamey Johnson, and Lukas Nelson -- with the band being filled out by John Medeski, Terence Higgins, Mark Mullins, and the Levee Horns. Also appearing at select gigs over the course of the trek will be Cyril Neville, the Radiators' Dave Malone, and guitarist Bob Margolin -- who performed alongside Muddy Waters at famed 1976 show.

Guitarist Warren Haynes is renowned for his work with Allman Brothers Band, the Dead, and his own group, Gov't Mule.

Robbie Robertson said in a statement, "It is such an honor that the musical celebration of the Last Waltz and the Band carries on today. Blackbird Presents and this extraordinary lineup of talent makes me proud to be a part of this ongoing and wonderful tradition."

Robertson told us that the events leading up to the Band's swan song were truly disturbing to him: "In a certain period leading up to The Last Waltz, it felt really crazy out there. When we were in Malibu, or on the road, and everywhere, everything was distorted in life. Everything was bent. So, part of the reason, leading up to The Last Waltz, was, like, can we do this before something terrible happens?"
