Roger Waters has just announced a 31-city North American tour, performed in the round, dubbed "Roger Waters: This Is Not A Drill." The Pink Floyd co-founder hits the road on July 8th playing Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena, with the trek winding down on October 3rd at Dallas' American Airlines Center. Tickets go on sale next Friday (January 31st) at 10:00 am local time.

Waters spoke about the reasons for the tour in a new video announcement, explaining, "As the clock ticks faster and faster and faster down to extinction, it seemed like a good thing to make a fuss about it, so that's why I'm going on the road. I, sort of, love playing in a band. It is good fun -- I promise you. If I look as if I'm having fun when I'm on the stage, it's 'cayuse I am. We're doing a show in the round. . . it's different to me and I look forward to the challenge."

He went on to say, "To be blunt, we need to change the way we organize ourselves as a human race -- or die. This tour will be part of a global movement by people who are concerned for others to affect the change that is necessary. That's why we're going on the road. That's why speak to each other in pubs. That's why this conversation should be on everybody's lips, constantly, the whole time, because it's super important. So I hope you'll all come to the shows. This is not a drill."

Roger Waters explained that rebelliousness and independent thinking have always been part of his makeup: "Yeah, I always have been that way. I spent a lot of time in the education system in England, which by and large was pretty good. But, when I went to my secondary school, which was a grammar school, they were pretty much of the 'sit down, be quiet, shut up and listen' school of education. We had canes and stuff like that, so there was plenty to rebel against -- but then I've always been politically active, so when I was a kid I was involved in the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and other organizations like that."
