Sting has announced a headlining residency in Las Vegas, set to open at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Friday, May 22nd. According to the press release, “The production, titled My Songs, will present a compendium of Sting’s songs with dynamic, visual references to some of his most iconic videos and inspirations.” Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 3rd at 10 a.m. PT.

The Vegas stand with play at The Colosseum on May 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 29th, and 30th; June 3rd, 5th, and 6th.

Sting will return for the second run, which is set for August 15th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, 26th, 28th, 29th, and September 2nd.

Coming on May 24th is Sting's latest album — also titled titled My Songs — in which he updates 15 of his solo and Police classics. Sting — who had first revamped his catalogue orchestrally for 2010's Symphonicities — has re-imagined such favorites as “Every Breath You Take,” “Walking On The Moon,” “Englishman In New York,” “Demolition Man,” “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You,” and “Message In A Bottle,” among others.

Although Sting has nothing to prove after such a monumental career, he admits that the stage is still a huge part of his job: “Y'know, I've been for touring most of my life, coming to places — most of them are really happy to see you (laughs), which is an interesting drug to put in your vein every night — hard to give up. I think I'm getting better as an artist, as a bandleader, as a songwriter; so I'll just keep doing that until I'm too old and stupid to do it any more.”

Although Sting is nothing if not a dedicated road-dog, he told us he keeps up with world affairs by reading while on the road: “I'm very plugged into what's going on politically. I read the New York Times every day and I read the op-ed page and the editorial, and I do the same in London with the newspaper. So, I know what's going on. So I don't feel, uh, disconnected in that way.”
