Coming on August 2nd is the new concert set, Yes: 50 Live. The collection was captured during Yes' 2018 tour, and features a newly created cover painting by Roger Dean “whose artwork and trademark calligraphy are synonymous with the band's identity.” Colored vinyl versions of the album will be available while supplies last.

Most of the album's 13 tracks were taped in Philadelphia at a rare show where 10 members of Yes were on stage during the encore, which included current members Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Alan White, Billy Sherwood, and Jon Davison, Jay Schellen — along with such Yes veterans as Tony Kaye, Patrick Moraz, Tom Brislin, and Trevor Horn. Patrick Moraz is featured on “Soon” and Tony Kaye is featured on “Yours Is No Disgrace,” “Roundabout,” and “Starship Trooper.”

Steve Howe, who joined Yes in 1970 just before sessions for 1971's The Yes Album, recalled to us the early days of the band: “We all had ambitions that was about being in a group where people could really play their ass off, and really make something that was different. I guess we wanted to be our own masters or our own creators, or something, or the other. Because we had good chemistry and were like, 'Hey what if I did this — what if you did that?' All the arrangements were credited to 'Yes' because we sat and arranged people's songs to sound like we wanted them. We didn't want to rush.”

Next month, Yes kicks off “The Royal Affair Tour” featuring Asia, the Moody Blues' John Lodge, and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy with guest vocals by Arthur Brown.
