Trying to be optimistic

Everyone has experienced the unknown of the Pandemic of 2020.  Months and months of mostly upsetting news has us all on edge.

We thought we were seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel with the return of baseball last weekend but I have always thought the season would not last long and late yesterday came the news that several members of the Marlins have tested positive for Covid 19.   And some games have been postponed.

That is exactly what I feared.  I am not sure that measures that MLB takes will be enough.  I hope I am wrong, but I take you back to March 11th when Utah Jazz basketball player Rudy Gobert announced he had the Covid 19 and the domino effect kicked in and the world came to a stop.

I see the domino’s starting to fall again.   S.I. is reporting that college football is coming close to the day when they have that hard choice.   The NFL will not have Preseason games.  The NBA bubble has already seen some players sneaking out.

In non-sports news, Google announced workers will continue to work from home.   Businesses are struggling, schools are making two plans, one with students at school and another for at home schooling.

What can we do?   I hope we can do plenty and I am not talking mask.  I am talking about trying to be optimistic about the changes in our lives.  Trying to find something anything that we can be happy about and coming to the realization that our struggles will continue but we can make the best of it.  Will it be easy? Nope, but it is something we don’t have a lot of choice.   Support our local merchants as much as we can.   Anything we can do to keep local store open means more for our community than we can imagine.

Make good choices about what you do when you are out.  I will not try to tell you what to do. However, I will say one thing.  I just think it silly the way some people are making a mountain out of a molehill with some of the things we are being asked to do.

We can make choices, and some will be good and some not so good.

Me, I am a pretty optimistic person and that is hard to do sometimes but I will tell you one thing dwelling on the negative things in our lives doesn’t help anyone.

This is not easy at all and I get down at times just like you, but this is what we face and why not face it with a smile that could be hidden behind a mask.
