Kiss has announced that David Lee Roth will serve as the band's opening act for it's 2020 North American "End Of The Road" dates. According to the press release, "David Lee Roth will bring his exciting stage show featuring a twin guitar big rock sound and a set list of classic hits and future energy."

The 40-city itinerary will span two legs playing in February and March and then from August to October. Kiss' 2020 dates kick off on February 1st in Manchester, New Hampshire at SNHU Arena, with the second leg wrapping on October 2nd at Fort Worth's Dickies Arena. Kiss has already set the final date of the tour for July 17th, 2021 at a New York venue still to be announced.

A while back, Gene Simmons spoke to Eddie Trunk and shed light on his early connection to Van Halen: "I found a band called Van Halen and flew them to New York and produced their first demo, which included their first record and a lot of other tunes that would up (on other albums) through the years. And I couldn't convince (Kiss manager) Bill Aucoin to sign them, or the record company (Casablanca), because Bill Aucoin thought that they looked like Black Oak Arkansas. And I told him he was on crack again, because nobody knew who that band was, and so what if they were there -- this is the next big band in America. I really believed it, I couldn't convince anybody. So I said to them, 'Y'know, I got ya signed (to a production deal), go back to L.A. after the tour, let's see what happens. I gotta go out on tour with Kiss.' At the end of the tour, they got a deal with Warners and I tore up the contract (and said) 'consider this a gift.'"

David Lee Roth joked to us that he's long gotten used to critics bashing him. He says that these days he actually revels in the press realizing that he couldn't care less: "I'm impervious to the machinations (laughs) of the derisions and slings and arrows and so forth, 'cause I see it completely for what it is. And it just irritates people even more (laughs). It's like number seven sand paper on a roll (laughs) right next to the commode -- 'Ah, courtesy of Diamond Dave' (makes ripping noise, laughs)."

Kiss performs on Thursday (December 19th) in Nagoya, Japan.

David Lee Roth will launch his Las Vegas residency at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino's House of Blues venue on January 8th, 10th, and 11th; and returning for a six-show run on March 18th, 20th, 21st, 25th, 27th, and 28th.
