Elton John has postponed the remainder of his 2020 North American tour dates of his sprawling "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" world tour. Elton, who had recently pushed all his shows between March 26th through May 2nd to 2021 -- has now extended it through the end of this year.

A statement was released explaining why Elton was putting the show on ice:

It is with deep regret that Elton John must postpone the remainder of his upcoming North American 2020 dates on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. . . This tough decision has been made with the continued safety and well-being of his fans at a time when health services are under increased pressure and with the concern that these gatherings continue to risk accelerating the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

One of the highlights of the recent One World: Together At Home multimedia fundraiser was Elton's solo rendition of his 1983 hit "I'm Still Standing." Elton recently looked back at the track that turned a whole new generation of fans on to his music: "'I'm Still Standing' was from the Too Low For Zero album. I think that was the first video I'd ever done with a that really. . . I mean, I hired Russell Mulcahy who did all the great Duran Duran videos. It's one of the great videos that I've done. Y'know, I'm not fond of doing videos -- everyone knows that. But it was a fun video and it's a fun song, and y'know, it works in concert. I really reach for uptempo songs, because on the piano it's much harder to write an uptempo song than it is a ballad."
