Set for re-release on August 30th is Gregg Allman's 1973 solo debut, Laid Back. The revamped set will be issued in a two-disc, expanded edition with over two-dozen rarities including, demos, outtakes, alternate versions, new mixes, and live tracks. The set will be released as a double-CD and on 180-gram vinyl. Also coming is the long-out of print live album, The Gregg Allman Tour, which will be re-released in a new vinyl edition.

According to the press release:

Upon release in October 1973, Laid Back received positive reviews and peaked at Number 13 on Billboard’s Top LP's & Tape chart while 'Midnight Rider' became a top 20 hit across North America. To support the album, Gregg Allman embarked on an unprecedented tour accompanied by a 24-piece orchestra comprising members of the New York Philharmonic, which was captured for posterity on 1974’s The Gregg Allman Tour live album.

The new Deluxe Edition of Laid Back expands the original album to 34 tracks and features 26 bonus tracks of previously unreleased or rare songs or new mixes -- including a breathtaking solo acoustic live performance of 'Melissa' from the Capitol Theatre on April 13th, 1974.

Shortly before his 2017 death, Gregg Allman revealed that after years of playing the Allman Brothers Band's material in concert, it was sometimes a shock to realize how far he'd strayed from the original studio versions. Allman recalled to us that he often caught himself playing a combination of both the Allman's classic version and the Laid Back arrangement of "Midnight Rider" at the same time: "After years, a song can change so much that you have to go back and say, 'Wait a minute -- that song's not like that.' We recently went back and listened to the record of 'Midnight Rider,' and we were playing it totally different. Of course, there's two versions of it, but we were playing half of one -- something off one, and something off the other, and we cleared it up finally. It's good to go back and spot-check things like that."
