Lynyrd Sknynyrd has been forced to postpone this weekend's shows as the band's sole-surviving co-founder Garry Rossington recovers from a heart procedure. Rossington had been experiencing fatigue and other symptoms related to a leaky heart valve, and underwent a procedure on July 31st to repair the valve. To allow him proper time to gear back up, the band is rescheduling the pair of dates. Rossington is expected to make a full recovery.

Frontman Johnny Van Zant said in a statement, “We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100 percent for the fans. We will see you all soon!” Skynyrd is on the road as part of their “Last Of The Street Survivors Farewell Tour.”

Skynyrd's show on Friday, August 16th, at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena has now been rescheduled for Friday, October 18th; and the Saturday, August 17th gig at Wheatland, California's Toyota Amphitheatre will now play on Saturday, October 19th. The press release stated: “Bad Company will remain as special guest, co-headliner for the rescheduled Las Vegas date on October 18th. Tickets purchased for the original August 16th and 17th dates will be honored for the rescheduled dates in October.”

During Lynyrd Skynyrd's recent chat on AXS TV's The Big Interview With Dan Rather Gary Rossington and Johnny Van Zant were ruminating on what it takes to wind down a performing career: (Gary Rossington): It takes a long time to finish a farewell tour when you're like us, 'cause we've played everywhere and there's thousands of venues. So, I keep joking it'd take 10 years to do (laughter) the farewell tour. . . (Johnny Van Zant): Gary's going, 'It's gonna be a long farewell tour!' (laughter)”
