CLASSIC DAVID BOWIE 1999 CONCERT COMING THIS MONTH

A new David Bowie archival show is coming to the digital realm on August 14th. Something In The Air (Live Paris 99) was recorded on October 14th, 1999 at Paris’ Elysee Montmartre the evening after Bowie received France's highest creative honor, the Commandeurs of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Rolling Stone posted, “The 15-song concert featured 'Can’t Help Thinking About Me,' a single he recorded in 1965 and hadn’t performed live in over 30 years, plus revived renditions of Station To Station's 'Word On A Wing,' Aladdin Sane's 'Drive-In Saturday' and the live debut of Hours' “Something In The Air.'”

In the last years of his performing career, David Bowie's shows were decidedly stripped down affairs — bringing the focus squarely back on the songs and the players: “I just want to show the band off, as much as anything else, y'know, and kind of just show the songs off. I believe the songs are strong enough where they don't need illuminating that much. There'll certainly be something to see for the people that are sitting in the back of an arena, some good video stuff, and good camera work, and all that, but no dancing bears.”
