EARLY AC/DC BASSIST PAUL MATTERS DIES

Early AC/DC bassist Paul Matters died on October 14th at home in Australia, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Matters, who performed on the tour supporting the band's 1975 debut album, High Voltage, was fired soon after by original frontman, Bon Scott after only a few weeks in the band, and replaced by Mark Evans.

Matters, who quit the music business after his short-lived tenure, told author Jesse Fink in 2017 book Bon: The Last Highway, “I was only with them a short time. I did the High Voltage tour around Australia. (Bon) got out the back of a truck and he told me I wasn’t going back to Melbourne with them. We were up in Sydney doing a concert for schoolkids. So I didn’t play that day. I just turned around and didn’t say a word to him. I turned around and walked out.”
