THE WHO POSTS UNSEEN 2006 SWISS GIG FOR ‘AT HOME’ VIDEO SERIES

The Who posted its July 14th, 2006 Locarno, Switzerland show at Piazza Grande as the latest upload in the band's ongoing “Join Together At Home On You Tube” series. The concerts are free to watch but fans are encouraged to donate to co-beneficiaries Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America via the link on YouTube or at www.join-together.org.

The Locarno concert features a pretty standard setlist for the '06 European gigs, with the exception of Pete Townshend's solo acoustic spot featuring his first-ever performance of the 1975 Who By Numbers-era tune “Greyhound Girl,” which the band passed on recording at the time. Townshend's multi-track demo eventually found release on his 1987 demo collection, Another Scoop.

Roger Daltrey appeared on TheWho.com and explained what made the Lorcano concert stand out amongst all the other gigs on the band's '06 European run: “This is of a show that we did when we were really just gettin' together after a three-year hiatus, and we were doing some shows in Europe — festivals and things. And we were doin' this show in an extraordinary place in Lorcano in Switzerland. And it was in the town square. It was a wonderful atmosphere, because the houses all down the side of the square all had balconies, and there were people out, sort of, all dancing, and you could see the light from their windows illuminating them.”
