GRATEFUL DEAD RELEASING CLASSIC 1984 SHOW THIS WEEK

Set for release on Thursday (July 16th) is the latest Grateful Dead live archival set as part of the ongoing “Dave's Picks” series. Jambands.com posted that Dave’s Picks Volume 35 features the band's April 20th, 1984 gig at the Philadelphia Civic Arena. Among the tunes included is the rarity, “Keep Your Day Job,” which was only performed 57 times between 1984 and 1986 before being discarded from the band's repertoire

The tracklisting to the Grateful Dead's Dave’s Picks Volume 35 –
April 20, 1984 – Philadelphia Civic Arena is:

First Set: “Feel Like A Stranger,” “Cold Rain And Snow,” “Beat It On Down The Line,” “Cumberland Blues,” “Little Red Rooster,” “Brown Eyed Women,” “My Brother Esau,” “It Must Have Been The Roses,” and “Let It Grow.”

Second Set: “Scarlet Begonias,” “Fire On The Mountain,” “Samson & Delilah,” “Drums,” “Space,” “I Need A Miracle,” “Morning Dew,” “Around & Around,” and “Johnny B. Goode.”

Mickey Hart told us that although he and the Dead's surviving members — Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann — don't personally troll through the band's tape archive, the group takes a very hands-on approach with their live releases: “We decide on which ones we wanna release, how many a year, and (our label) Rhino does it. And they do a really good job. We have designated someone, and of course we have input into each release. I mean, we control what goes out there. It's our responsibility. We have a wonderful staff who have our sensibilities.”
