METALLICA IS RELEASING ‘METALLICA & SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY: S&M2’ NEXT MONTH

Metallica is releasing their Metallica & San Francisco Symphony: S&M2 album next month. The album documents last year's shows that the group played with the orchestra in September, and will arrive in 11 different configurations including Blu-Ray, vinyl and packages that contain both audio and video footage of the event.

The album comes 20 years after the band's first concerts with the symphony in 1999 at the Berkely Community Theatre. The late composer-arranger Michael Kamen conducted them. The band requested that the orchestra's music director Michael Tilson-Thomas helped to bring Kamen's vision to fruition.

Metallica affiliate Greg Fidelman told Billboard, “Honoring Michael was always a guiding light as we put things together. We wanted to revisit his idea — and take it to another level.”

Metallica & San Francisco Symphony: S&M2 is due out on August 28th.
