PAUL McCARTNEY POSTS ‘SUMMER’-BASED SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

Paul McCartney has just posted a new 10-song Spotify playlist on his official PaulMcCartney.com site. Every month McCartney posts a new tracklisting with a specific theme — with July spotlighting some of his favorite summer songs from across his solo catalogue.

The announcement reads: “Hello, July! The sun is shining and we’re in the mood for warm, summery tunes to play while we lounge in the garden or dance with our flatmates. The monthly ‘Sticking Out Of My Back Pocket’ playlist has been updated with some of Paul’s best songs about summer, from ones we all know and love to those deeper-cuts and hidden gems. The weather is set to be ‘Warm And Beautiful’ for the next few weeks, so grab your sunglasses, sunscreen and headphones, and check out the playlist below.”

Paul McCartney's “Summer” Spotify playlist for July:

“Sixty Second Street” (2019)
“Warm And Beautiful” (1976)
“I'll Follow The Sun (Live At Amoeba)” (2007)
“See Your Sunshine” (2007)
“Great Day” (1997)
“Good Times Coming/Feel The Sun” (1986)
“4th Of July” (1974)
“Hot As Sun/Glasses” (1970)
“Tomorrow” (1971)
“Calico Skies” (1997)

Paul McCartney has been writing songs for nearly 65 years, and admits he's just as amazed each time the muse strikes him: “I've been blessed with this privilege of writing songs that people will listen to. And then, when I play them — people know them. So, I kind of, feel it's a magical thing — so I love it.”

McCartney says that throughout the years, he's always used music as a way to celebrate his life and get him through his darker moments: “I know for me it often is a way — that's why I say 'therapy.' Y'know, you're feeling bad, you skulk off into a corner with your guitar and you write something and somehow you seem to take yourself through it, and somehow you work through it with your music. So I thank heaven for that.”
