- Bob Dylan, at 79, has broken the record as the oldest living performer to top the UK album charts with all original material. Dylan's s 39th studio set, Rough And Rowdy Ways, beat out the record held by Paul Simon, whose Stranger To Stranger hit Number One back in 2016, when Simon was 74. Dylan also bested Rod Stewart, who had previously snagged the honors as the oldest living solo performer to hit the top spot in the UK. (Best Classic Bands)
- Incidentally, Bob Dylan is now the first artist to score a Top 40 album on the Billboard 200 in every decade since the 1960's.
- Blue Oyster Cult will release its first new album this October, marking their first studio set in nearly 20 years. The new album, The Symbol Remains, is the band's followup to 2001's critically acclaimed Curse Of The Hidden Mirror. The band posted a message about the new set, which reads, “The album showcases a band who hasn’t been slowed by the time passed, but is simply unphased (sic) by it. The Symbol Remains is one of their most spirited, diverse, and inspired releases to date.”
- Legendary session guitarist Pete Carr died at the age of 70, and is best known for his work as part of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section which operated out of FAME Recording Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Sheffield, Alabama. Over the years, Carr has never been of the airwaves having played key parts on such instant classics as Paul Simon's “Kodachrome,” Rod Stewart's “Tonight's The Night,” Bob Seger's “Mainstreet” — as well as earning production credits on Seger's Night Moves, Stranger In Town, and Against The Wind, albums.
- Carr's resume reads like a “who's who” of popular music, playing sessions and shows with such legends as Simon & Garfunkel, Levon Helm, Barbra Streisand, Willie Nelson, Paul Kossoff, Boz Scaggs, Joan Baez, Cat Stevens, Donovan, Joe Cocker, and many, many more. (AL.com)
- Randy Bachman & Burton Cummings have now rolled out a total of 17 rescheduled tour dates, having fully pushed their tour back to the spring and summer of 2021. The “Together Again, Live in Concert” summer run marking the pair's first joint trek in over a decade, will celebrate the music of the Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and Burton Cummings, featuring such legendary hits as “These Eyes,” “Laughing,” “Undun,” “No Time,” “American Woman,” “No Sugar Tonight,” “Share The Land,” “Stand Tall,” “Let It Ride,” “Takin’ Care Of Business,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” and many more.
