- Sting will headline New York City's “SummerStage Jubilee,” a free benefit concert supporting City Parks Foundation (CPF) programs in parks, taking place on Thursday, September 17th at 8:00 p.m. ET. The show will air on SummerStage social platforms (SummerStage Instagram, SummerStage YouTube, Facebook page and Twitch) via live stream.
- The digital event will also feature appearances by Norah Jones, Trey Anastasio, Rufus Wainwright, Leslie Odom Jr., Rosanne Cash, and tennis legend Billie Jean King, among others. (Press release)
- It seems as though there's a thaw in the cold war between David Gilmour and Roger Waters. Waters recently complained publicly over the fact that — despite leaving the band in 1985 and suing them over the use of its name — neither he, nor his work, is ever promoted on official Pink Floyd media platforms. The tides have now turned, with Floyd's Instagram page not only celebrating Waters' 77th birthday last Sunday (September 6th) — but his upcoming live album. The text reads: “A very happy birthday to Roger Waters, who releases his recent Us + Them concert recording in less than a month's time.”
- The Blu-ray, DVD and accompanying soundtrack's CD and vinyl editions of Waters' Us + Them will be released on October 2nd.
- Neil Young has revealed that the first release in his upcoming official bootleg series will be his Carnegie Hall appearance from December 4th, 1970. On his official NeilYoungArchives website, Young wrote: “This one — Carnegie Hall, December 4th, 1970, is very special to me. Change happens fast. As I have gone through these early bootlegs, Carnegie Hall, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion 2/1/70, Royce Hall 1/30/71 and others, they show a change, something you can hear — an evolution. My first time playing harmonica — Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, is heard as well as what the harmonica replaced — heard on earlier shows. That was interesting to me because I don’t remember exactly when I started playing harp until I heard that. At Carnegie Hall, I hear myself doing a new song, one about my ranch I had just moved to — 'Old Man.' Time flies.” No release date has been announced. (Rolling Stone)
- A new special titled, Brian Johnson Meets Dave Grohl, is set to premiere on September 17th on the UK's Sky Arts channel. Sky Arts will become free-to-air later this month, allowing all viewers to watch it at no extra cost.
- The show's official description reads, “It's a meeting of rock legends as AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson meets Foo Fighters lead singer and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl at the Foos' LA studio to share stories about life on the road.” (Blabbermouth)
- The Eagles have just posted the new live version of to their 1976 chart-topper “Hotel California” online. The track is a teaser for the 26-song live album and DVD Live From The Forum MMXVIII (2018), which will be released on October 16th. The live set was culled from the band's September 12th, 14th, and 15th, 2018 Los Angeles concerts at the Forum.
- Eddie Van Halen's wife, Janie Van Halen, took to social media to quell the rumors she's cheating on Eddie. Fans started raising red flags when Janie started posting photos of her with her dancing partner Louie Martinez. Janie posted a photo of her and Eddie on Instagram and wrote: “Breaking News — Eddie Van Halen is my husband & our relationship and life together is PRIVATE. dncnlouie is my friend & business partner for various endeavors including ballroom dance & pro wrestling as the brand @janieandlouie & is public. #dontgetittwisted #justsoyouknow.”
- Legendary Animals frontman Eric Burdon had some choice words for Donald Trump's use of the band's 1964 classic “The House Of The Rising Sun” at his political rallies. Posting on Instagram, Burrdon wrote: “Even though nobody asked my permission, I wasn’t surprised to learn that Trump used 'House of the Rising Sun' for his rally the other day. . . A tale of sin and misery set in a brothel suits him so perfectly! Far more appropriate for this time in our history might be 'We Gotta Get Out of This Place.' - Former-Temptations singer Bruce Williamson died on September 6th from COVID-19. The 49-year old vocalist was a member of the group from 2006 to 2015, and was featured on the Temps' studio sets, Back To The Front from 2007 and 2010's Still Here. (TMZ)
