The Who have tapped its 2017 'Tommy': Live At The Royal Albert Hall concert film as the latest upload in its ongoing “Join Together At Home On You Tube” series. Back on March 30th and April 1st, 2017, the band played the first complete performances of its 1969 rock opera in over 25 years, when Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey took to the stage to celebrate the 100th show performed for their patron charity, Teenage Cancer Trust at London's Royal Albert Hall.
The Who's “Join Together At Home On You Tube” is free to watch but fans are encouraged to donate to co-beneficiaries Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America via the link on YouTube or at www.join-together.org.
Roger Daltrey spoke to The Who.com and shed light on the Who returning to Tommy after so many years: “What can I say about this show? We did this show only for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall. And, it was kind of a tricky one, because we didn't think we'd ever play Tommy again. The last time we played it as a band was in 1989. (This) was the show that gave me the idea of doing the Teenage Cancer Trust shows at the Albert Hall.”
