Toto's co-founding guitarist Steve Lukather has just released the video for “Run To Me,” featuring his All Star Band boss, Ringo Starr. The song, which will be featured on “Luke's” upcoming solo set due out next year, also features Toto keyboardists David Paich and Joseph Williams, and Huey Lewis & The News' bassist John Pierce.
Lukather was quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock talking about having the legendary Beatles drummer on his track and video: “(It's) an honor to have his contribution captured on a song of mine, much less his gracious presence in the video. Over the course of the last decade, we’ve become dear friends traveling the world with one another, and much like Paich and Williams, I am certainly blessed to have these talented, amazing human beings in my life as both band mates and friends. As we all look toward the unknown of this crazy world we are living in, my hope is this tune brings a little peace, love and pleasant distraction to these uncertain times.”
Steve Lukather is no stranger to hanging with former members of the Beatles, having played guitar on Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's 1982 “The Girl Is Mine” smash, before appearing in McCartney's 1984 box office flop Give My Regards To Broad Street. Lukather went on to become a good friend of George Harrison's during the 1990's.
Lukather recalled to us an early-'90s jam session between him, Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Jim Keltner, and Bob Dylan: “I played 'I Want To Tell You,' and I was playing the piano part on the guitar, and George was like — 'How are you doing that?' (Laughs) And it just cracked me up — I'm showing him (laughs) his own song. And that was just like one of the most fondest memories of my life.”
