TEARS FOR FEARS RELEASE TEASER FROM ‘SEEDS OF LOVE’ BOX SET

Tears For Fears has just released a teaser from its upcoming Seeds Of Love box set, coming on October 9th. Rolling Stone reported he newly posted demo version of “Rhythm Of Life” will be included on the five-disc collection, which includes a remastered version of the original 1989 The Seeds Of Love album, its singles and B-sides, along with alternate mixes, demos and outtakes — with the set boasting a full 22 unreleased tracks. A Blu-ray containing a 5.1 surround-sound mix of the album will also be issued, as well as a scaled down two-disc version of the set.

Primary songwriter Roland Orzabal said in a statement: “Out of all our albums, I’d probably rank (The Seeds Of Love) highest. I think it surprised a lot of people, a lot of our peers as well, people who maybe we were being compared to in the mid-'80s.”

Bassist Curt Smith added: “The tracks I liked then, I still like now. 'Woman In Chains,' 'Badman’s Song,' ‘Sowing The Seeds of Love’ and 'Advice For The Young At Heart' have all stuck around. We still play those live.”

Curt Smith admitted to us that he and Roland Orzabal are notoriously bad at choosing single releases for the band: “I'm not convinced that we're that great at picking singles. We were the ones fighting against the American company to release 'Everybody Wants to Rule World' 'cause we thought it wasn't a single. We released 'Mad World' because we thought it would get us critical acclaim. We thought it was so not commercial and it ended up being a huge hit in Europe. I don't think that's our strength. Our strength is making albums.”

Not too long ago, Roland Orzabal explained that Tears For Fears is an ongoing concern and going from strength to strength in several different markets: “We’ve been touring on and off quite regularly around the world. And it’s been, y’know, some of the audiences, especially in Brazil, uh, West Coast of America have just been absolutely remarkable. We have been working on a new album and I believe we’re about to sign for a major record label — which at our tender age is quite shocking.”

Tears For Fears' The Seeds Of Love was released on September 25th, 1989 and peaked at Number Eight on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

The album's lead single, “Sowing The Seeds Of Love,” peaked at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100 charts — but went all the way to Number One on the rival Cash Box chart.
